PurrPrint support
A little help with
your labels.
Let’s get you from your first connection to a good print. The editor, templates, and saved labels also work without a printer.
Your first connection
- Turn on your printer, load paper, and close any other app connected to it. Keep the printer close to your iPhone or iPad.
- Open PurrPrint, tap Get started, and allow Bluetooth access.
- On Connect your printer, tap Connect beside your printer. Wait for the green check, then tap Continue.
- If the printer’s name is unknown or has been changed, choose the exact model when asked. An explicit model choice is required for an unknown name.
- If it does not appear, check power and proximity, enable Show all Bluetooth devices if necessary, and tap Scan again.
After setup, use Connect printer on the Printer tab. PurrPrint remembers a successfully connected printer and its model, and reconnects automatically for later prints.
If you previously denied Bluetooth access, enable it for PurrPrint in your device’s Settings.
Check the model first
Connection and printing are confirmed on both regular thermal paper and adhesive thermal rolls.
Additional implemented profiles are untested on hardware: MX05, MX06, MX08, MX09, GB01, GB02, GT01, YT01, MX11, MXTP, PD01, SC03h, and GB03.
MXW01 uses a different protocol. It is unsupported, as are NIIMBOT, Phomemo, AirPrint, and ESC/POS printers. A familiar device name alone does not guarantee compatible firmware.
Try a test print
On the Printer tab, tap Test print. Look for a small black rectangle on the left, a narrow marker on the right, and a row of vertical bars, with blank feed space around the pattern. Repeat the test to check successive prints.
Keep PurrPrint in the foreground during printing. “Sent” means the data was transmitted; it does not confirm that the printer has physically finished printing or feeding paper.
Cancelling or leaving the app stops transmission and the remaining copies. Rows already buffered by the printer may still print. Failed jobs are never replayed automatically.
When a print needs a little help
My printer does not appear
Check that it is powered on and nearby. Close other printer apps and make sure another device is not connected to it. Turn the printer off and on, then scan again. Try Show all Bluetooth devices and check PurrPrint’s Bluetooth permission in Settings.
It connects, but nothing prints or the output is blank
Check that paper is loaded and the model in Printer → Advanced matches your device. Disconnect before changing the model profile. Run Test print to separate connection or printer issues from the label’s content.
If the test still fails, save a diagnostic log and contact support with the advertised printer name and model. Some similarly named printers use incompatible firmware or protocols.
Rows are missing or the output is striped
In Printer → Advanced → Speed, turn off Faster printing and try again. If rows are still missing, try increasing Packet delay. Share a diagnostic log if the issue continues.
The end of my label is cut off
First, check the preview. With a fixed label length, overflowing content is not automatically shrunk: only the visible portion prints. Increase the length, choose automatic length, or adjust your content and margins.
If the preview is complete but the paper output is not, keep the app in the foreground until printing finishes. In Printer → Advanced, turn off Disconnect after printing if it is enabled, and compare another print.
The print is too light or too dark
Adjust Density on the Printer tab. The five levels run from Lightest to Darkest. Try a short test before printing multiple copies.
I need more paper to tear off the label
Adjust Tear-off feed in Print or Printer settings. This advances printed content toward the tear edge; it does not change the label’s top margin. The setting is per model and lasts for the current session. Feed paper in the advanced tools advances paper separately.
Tear line between copies prints a dashed guide for manual separation. It is not a cutter command.
Where are image, QR code, and barcode tools?
Open Printer → Advanced for the image and code composer, test patterns, feed controls, and diagnostics. These are advanced printer tools, separate from the main block-based label editor.
Share a diagnostic log
Go to Printer → Advanced → Diagnostics → Share diagnostic log. The log holds the most recent 250 events and is kept in memory only. Discovered GATT lists the printer’s Bluetooth services and characteristics.
A diagnostic log can contain printed label content. Review it before sharing, and send only information you are comfortable including.

For printing problems, include your printer model, paper type, what you expected, and what actually happened. A reviewed diagnostic log and your iOS and app versions can help narrow it down.
